Hayden is going great! It has been a little over a week since the accident. He had surgery on the 24th of September. They put a screw and a pin in his right big toe. He has been walking around on crutches but got a walking boot today. He is excited about that. He was getting a little tired of the crutches. We went to the doctor today and he lost his balance and fell in the parking lot. Skinned his knee and bumped his toe. He was not a happy camper. But he is ok and loving that he doesns't have to use the crutches any more. His foot is a little bruised up and his toe has stiches from the toe nail to the joint where you bend your foot with a pin sticking out of the toe. It looks a little gruesome. He thinks that is COOL! Boys love scars and gross things. I think that he is getting a little bored here at home and is looking forward to going back to school.
Well Hayden got a nice big elk. Can you tell a 7 by 8. I think they said that it scored around 360. He got this elk on the 19th of Sept. around 9:00am. He shot it twice from a distance of 83 yards and it was still breathing so Hayden put it out of its misery with one more shot. It was a tough elk. But so worth it as well . He had a blast! He was grins from ear to ear. Hayden and Brad came home on Saturday and was getting the trailer off the truck it was stuck so they grabbed the handy man jack and started lifting the trailer off the truck when the trailer bounced off and moved over and fell right on top of Hayden's foot. We took him to the Urgent Care facility in American Fork. They told us that his big toe was broke and the bone had moved over
meaning that he needed to have surgery. So he is scheduled for surgery on Wednesday. Not the best ending for a great weekend after he shot his elk but we are just glad that it can be fixed and he will be fine in the long run. Sorry no more football this season Hayd. Just know that we love you and want the best for you. Recover fast and know that we are here for you. Oh I almost forgot Hayden's elk is bigger than his dad's. So now Hayden has the bragging rights. You go Hayden.
So our ward had a ward auction at the beginning of the year. They have lots of great things to choose from. Shawnee was bidding on a candy machine that turns around and Hayden was bidding on an elk hunt. Well can you guess what happened! Yes they both won. This weekend that is where Hayden and Brad are. They left Thursday morning the 18th of September and I got a phone call this afternoon that Hayden had shot his first elk all by himself. I won't tell you how big it was until we have pictures to show. He was pretty excited but you know his excitement. On the scale of 1-10 his level is on the 3-5 range. He doesn't show alot of his excitement. I can give you this though he told me that his elk is bigger that dad's. So can't wait to see this elk and we will post pictures as soon as he gets back.

Can you believe this? Yes we have a sink hole in the back yard. As you can see the rocks have fallen away from the patio and are sinking in to a 4 foot hole. We found this on Tuesday night. When Shawnee was out feeding the animals. We have had a little hole for a while now and we dig it up and can't find anything and fill the hole back up. We were in a little bit of a panic thinking this problem could be under the porch coming out of the house. Lucky it wasn't. The problem was out by the shop. The pipe must of been leaking for a while now cause as I said before we say a dip in the grass. Also thinking that from all the rain and snow over the winter it slopes to that area of the yard it was settling a little. So the pipe must of finally broke and this is the damage it left behind. Brad dug up the hole and fixed the problem now we just need to fix the yard a little. But we can handle that. We are just glad that this wasn't to major! It could of been WORST!!!!
We had the best Labor day weekend ever. We went to our newly finished cabin in Mount Pleasant. It was so beautiful!!!! We headed Saturday afternoon after Hayden's football game. Which he played the whole game. He was awesome! He got hit hard a few times and now has a few nasty bruises on his arms. Anyway we will tell you more about Hayden and his games another day. The weather was perfect the first day nice and warm. You can hear the creek running down the hill. We got the cabin all set up for our first stay. We had beds for everyone and plenty of movies to watch cause the satellite company can't come until the end of September. We enjoyed each others company. The weather the next day was just as nice as the first. Hayden and Brad set out to go bow hunting for deer but no luck. We went to bed with the window open and during the night the storm came. I mean it poured it woke Cortlyn up and she came and climbed in bed with me and Brad. The next morning we woke up to fog that covered the mountains in a big fluffy blanket. By noon the fog had lifted and you could see the clean and rain soaked mountain side. It rained again. It was magical listening to the rain hit the trees, rocks and cabin. All I could do was stare out the window and listen to the rain fall. It was heavenly! Everyone enjoyed themselves and want to go back soon.
